The second season of the much awaited ‘Hannibal’ TV series releases in about 14 days from now. Being a huge fan of the suave lifestyle, culinary art and great cinematography; I have high hopes from this season which promises to be packed with more of art, fear and gore.
Bryan Fuller just scooped up a skin-of-the-teeth renewal for season two, promising a seven-season plan in place for his dark critical hit ‘Hannibal’. With a following season three, Fuller says the actual literature would start from Season four being the “Red Dragon”, season five would be the “Silence of the Lambs”, six being the “Hannibal era” and the series would conclude with a season 7 . Though NBC failed to captivate the attention of the mass, despite the great ratings from the critics, Fuller leaves no stones unturned with the new season.
Unlike season 1 which had French culinary inspired episode names, season 2 would have same trend except it would have culinary Japanese terms. S02E01 has been named 会席 “Kaiseki” which is a traditional, multi-course Japanese meal, consists of a sequence of dishes, each often small and artistically arranged. The second episode named 肉じゃが “Nikujaga” is a Japanese dish of meat, potatoes and onion stewed in sweetened soy sauce, sometimes with ito konnyaku and vegetables. Generally, potatoes make up the bulk of the dish, with meat mostly serving as a source of flavor. Episode 4 being 煮合, “Takiawase” is a dish made vegetables served with meat, fish or tofu; the ingredients are simmered separately. Futamono (蓋物): a “lidded dish”; typically a soup. Episode 5 is named “Mukozuke” involves sliced sashimi and Episode 6 “Futamono” being a lidded dish.
Season 2, what to expect:
Will Graham still in prison:
From the teaser one can clearly assume that Hannibal would be even more dangerous and cunning in the second season, by controlling the lives of not just Graham but also Jack Crawford and Dr. Alana Bloom. However it seems that Graham is also going to be a much more focused and would have a proactive character this season, now that he’s no longer suffering from encephalitis and knows he’s not crazy. He’s going to actively try to get himself released, or at least take down Hannibal.
The most gory as predicted would be the bee hive, it would be far more unappetizing and grotesque than the Human Mushroom.
Hannibal replacing Graham
With Graham behind the bars, Hannibal would fit into Graham’s shoes and it would be interesting to see Hannibal interacting with the FBI. Things would go even worse for Graham
Expect the surreal imagery of Hannibal, being the hallmark of the show to continue. However Graham being no longer ill would be more reliable narrator.
The are critics saying the opening shot of the season 2, would be the best scene the show has done to date.
Season 2 would have more guest psychopaths stars which include Jeremy Davies (Lost, Justified), Jonathan Tucker (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre) and Amanda Plummer (Pulp Fiction, Catching Fire).
Bon Appétit 😉
